Visit California

They call it a state. We call it a country.

You know the majestic PCH, the farmer’s market 101, the audubon 5, but take our word for it—there is definitely more to explore. We set out on a warm weather adventure to document the people and places that fall under the distinction of “hidden gems”. And for those who love to get lost, no need to worry, the diamonds are still happily hidden, and right where they should be.

Our long, winding, wondrous tour of California included Circus Trees in Gilroy, star gazing in Borrego Springs, Trout’s Honky Tonk in Bakersfield, the Stornetta National Monument north of Point Arena Cove, the Shasta Cascade, the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, Gold Country and the Big Bear Valley, from above and from below.

Production-wise, we went fast and light, camped out of an RV, treated everyday like an outdoor workout, and generally had a ball. 8 regions in 8 days? Not quite, but close. Speaking of numbers, the impact will be equally far reaching. California travel and tourism expenditures totaled more than $122 billion in 2015, providing jobs for over a million Californians and generating $9.9 billion in tax revenues.
